The requirements for membership in the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Inc. are:

  • Men 16 years and older who are practicing Roman Catholics.
  • Irish by birth or descent and who are citizens of United States of America or who have declared their intentions to become citizens of the United States of America.

The requirements for membership in the Ladies AOH are: 

  • You must be a practicing Roman Catholic woman. 

  • Irish by birth or descent through either parent, or who is legally adopted, or who is the wife or mother of a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America, Inc. or the mother of a member of the Junior Division of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. 


SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF AOH MEMBERSHIP:

  • Subscription to our bi-monthly national paper, the Hibernian Digest
  • Representation on issues of Irish-American concern.
  • Scholarships for members and their families. An influential voice in local, state, national and international government.
  • Participation in local, regional, national and international fraternal organization networking.
  • An opportunity to experience Irish culture by promoting lectures, films, discussion groups.
  • Community involvement in socials, such as activities and programs for the entire family, dinners, dances, picnics, festivals, parties, sports and theater.

AOH Orange County Activities - What We Do!

  • AOH Orange County Divisions are a major participant in the annual St. Patrick’s Family Festival in Midway City.  The proceeds benefit the Brothers of St. Patrick Novitiate. 

  • We also produce the annual Commemoration of the Irish Easter Rebellion of 1916 with an open air Mass in Gaelic, a dramatic reading of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic of 1916 and the formal raising of the flags of the USA, Ireland and the Irish Provincial flags.

  • The Orange County Divisions participate in the St. Vincent's Christmas toy drive for children.

  • We have sponsored dinners and dances to benefit Irish and Irish-American families.
     

  • The AOH is forming an Orange County Pipe and Drum Band and a Color Guard.
     

  • The Ladies AOH Division sponsors the Annual Orange County Hibernian Céili, an evening of Irish music and dancing for the whole family.   The Hibernians are sponsors or participants in almost all Irish-American activities in California.
